About Me

Being raised on a farm, I spent my childhood in the beautiful outdoors around calves, chickens, cats, horses, goats, dogs and sheep. I got to ride with Daddy while he checked cows and worked in the fields. My sisters and I always knew that we were important to our Daddy, especially when he let us help.  Life was about family, working together, and loving each other. My Mother did an excellent job teaching me how to sew, (and sew right!) cook, clean, garden and gave us opportunity to explore our various interests. Since age 10, I’ve made hundreds of garments for family and friends.

  I am extremely grateful for that experience, because I love to sew!

As a busy wife and mother I still cherish my love of nature and animals and miss that peaceful time in my life.  Still I find that sewing is relaxing, and is a good

 way to express my creativity.

 I am privileged to be a Farmers’ Daughter, and I always will be,

because my Daddy was a Farmer, and because his legacy lives on through his children.  And even though I don’t live on the farm right now, I look forward to the day when I can return .... and until then, this Farm Girl is gonna’ keep on sewing!

Daddy

Daddy never had much to say;

Born an’ raised in the good old days

When a man was judged by his integrity;

Not by all he proclaimed to be.

With a tattered coat that hid a kindly heart,

The farm was his home, not a toiling mart,

 ‘Tis true, he never had much to say,

But we knew we were loved, in a quiet way.

Seems like ‘twas yesterday we sat

On the old front porch for a family chat

Ere I changed the farm and the simple life

For a marriage that took me to the city an’ strife.

While I happily talked of lifes’ newheld charm

His eyes looked out o’er the family farm

He said “I wouldn’t trade you for all the world-

You’ll always be my little girl.”

Suddenly one summer day

He left us and went the heavenly way;

An’ his spirit soared to the realms above

On the wings of a simple-hearted love.

An’ I know that when I cross the bar

I’ll find him there by the gates ajar,

An’ he’ll say as he smiles with his eyes so blue,

“Come right on in, I’ve been waitin’ for you.”

I love you Daddy.
